Dancers Days…

So, just so you all know, I’ve had bronchitis the past week.  It’s been rough, full of short nights for both me and my mother, and it’s grating on us both. But, the show must go on.

Dance dress rehearsals wait for no girl, bronchitis or no, so yesterday we ran up to the doctors, got a diagnosis, and then loaded me up on antibiotics and cough suppressant. I went to dress rehearsal today, and did fairly well considering everything that’s happened.  Performance tomorrow, and I pray that everything works out.

The Endless Project…

We’ve all had those projects that we started…And they won’t end…

I’m being haunted by one of those “phantom” projects right now. It seems to me that no matter how many of the Frances quilt tops I get done, there’s just another one to smile evilly at me needing to be sewn together. AGH! This is driving me crazy! I’ll push through, I just might be crazy by the end.

Ballet: Hidden Perils

Funny moment of the week: At dance, one of the guys (The prince) Was being “Killed” by the evil wizard. It’s a kind of scary piece of choreography actually, and it involves the prince being thrown around and lifted into the air by the wizard and his minions as a sacrifice. The wizard has a very intimidating “face” (A.K.A. mask) made by my mother.

Unfortunately, ballet is kind of dangerous, and as the prince was being put down, a minion got in the way, the prince slipped, and it ended with the prince in the bathroom trying to get the split above his eye to stop bleeding. Rather an interesting class….

Well, If Nothing Else….

So, as many of you know, my mom and I are big into thrift shopping. Weather it be thrift stores or garage sales, it’s kinda what we do. We’ve always had really good experiences with this (Including prom dresses), so frequently, that’s just how we shop. I’m going to be moving into high school, and this means one thing: Totally new wardrobe.

You may be wondering “Why would moving into high school require a new wardrobe?”. There is a simple answer to this. The middle school has a uniform, the high school has a “dress code”. All of my school wardrobe is the uniform, so I am lacking any clothes to go to high school with. My mom’s challenge: Can we buy your whole wardrobe with $100?

Yes, I know it sounds crazy, but it’s really not. Saturdays are shopping days, and we did quite well I think. I’ll give you all full details, later, but here’s a basic rundown.

6 Tops/ 2 pairs of jeans – Garage sale – $3.00

(one pair of the jeans not shown)

1 Top – Garage sale – $0.25

2 Tops/ 1 adorable jacket – Thrift store – $10.00

Totally Tutus

Again with my super busy life. Sorry for the long hole between posts, but here I am again. My school recently had a dance. My friend and I decided that we needed to do something crazy for it. And we needed to match. The decision: Tutus. Crazy? Indeed, but crazy cool. We spent one afternoon at my house, and ta-da!!!!!!!!!!!!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Two tutus! We had so much fun! We matched that day, and we were fabulous. The tutu skirt is made up of different colors of netting, and the waistband is made of cotton poly solid black fabric.

P.S. I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!

Kitty Olympic Practice

I can’t wait for winter, because it brings out the funny in my cat.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Here are the kitties during the summer….Normal, polite, good mannered cats.

But winter brings out a new side of our little black-and-white cat…..

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Fearsome wild kitty emerges!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rawr!!!!!!!!!!!!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This cat has an addiction to snow chasing. Don’t ask me why. She’s always done it. But it is so funny to watch.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

She spends hours hours and hours during the winter chasing through the snow after nothing. It’s my personal favorite winter sport to watch, because some of the aerial acrobatics that cat pulls off would make an olympic gymnast jealous. (Sorry, we don’t have any good aerial shots.)

When we get home from being somewhere and the deck looks like this, we all know what happened. The kitty was participating in her favorite sport; chasing nothing in the snow.

Little (Or Not So Little) Chickens

O.K. its high time that I got back into the blogging world. I know that summer is a busy time for all, but that is no excuse, I MUST get back on top of things before school starts on the 19th. If I don’t get it done now, I may never get it done in the chaos of Back-to-school nights and the start of school. Here goes nothing.

I should have told you about this 8 weeks ago, but the thought slipped my mind and I didn’t get to it.

We, meaning my family and I, have baby chickens.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This is the box that they came in. We ordered them online and they mailed them to us! We actually got to pick baby chickens up from a post office!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

We didn’t know that baby chickens slept so much. The chicks would all be running around, and then they would all be asleep, which made us all laugh really hard.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Of course, they also spent a LOT of time eating and playing in the sawdust.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This is my favorite chicken, Can you believe that when she is full grow she will look like this?!?!

imgres

This was news to me. I didn’t think that they would look THAT different. Oh well.

Well really, I procrastinated to the point that they aren’t really babies anymore……

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Well, I procrastinated so long that they are this big now….Oops.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The two chickens in this picture (reading from left to right) are Dot who is a golden Laced Wyandotte, and Gravy, who is a Light Brahma.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The cleaver looking chicken on top of their feeder is Buff, A Buff Orpington, and the striped one behind her is The  Valedictorian Chicken, called either Val, or Tori, who is a Barred Rock, The chicken behind her is Hydra, a Speckled Sussex. We have 8 babies though, the other Two who you can’t see very well in any of the pictures are Red, a Rhode Island Red, and Blackberry, a Silver Laced Wyandotte.

But, as I’m sure you have noticed, that only counts to SEVEN hens. Oops. We ordered EIGHT hens.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Apparently, even experts get mixed up sometimes. We got one Amelia Gonzales ROOSTER. We can’t have roosters where we live, because they make too much noise. We have found him a good home where he is allowed to crow.  The chickens are now two months old and flourishing.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This is the coop they will be living in sometime soon. Our big chickens live in it right now, and that would be fine, except, the little gray chicken you see in the picture despises the baby chickens. We are waiting till they get a bit bigger than she is to put them in the same cage.
